REPUBLIC OF SERBIAN KRAYINA - GOVERNMENT IN EXILE
11.080 Zemun, Magistarski trg 3 Tel: 3077-028, fax: 316-4679, vladarsk[at]yubc.net No. 204/06 – 21 March 2006
The government in exile of the Republic of Serbian Krayina is honored to salute the diplomatic-consular representatives in Serbia and Montenegro. We like to inform you on the relations between the Serbs and the Croats in the 1945-1990 period; and on this occasion, we will recall the civil war in Yugoslavia, originated from the terror imposed on the Serbian population by the Croatian government, starting in 1990.
The Croatian Parliament (Sabor) has converted in 1990 the bi-national Socialist Republic of Croatia into a one-nation State. Surprisingly the European States have supported these uncivilized measures adopted by the Croatian government. Undoubtedly they would not give their approval to the Walloons if they wanted to take away from the Flemings the State federal status and force them to go to Holland.
The government of the Republic of Serbian Krayina would like to recall the diplomatic-consular representatives how was created the Republic of Croatia as a federative member of Yugoslavia in 1945. It is well known that the Serbs from Krayina represented 90% of the fighters in the ranks of the antifascist Resistance. Croatia was from 1941 to 1945 the ally of the fascist Axis and had a program for the destruction of the Serbian, Gypsy and Jewish population. In that purpose the Croats built a net of death camps with the center in Jasenovac. After the war, the Serbs behaved unexpectedly towards the Croats by ignoring the slaughter of over a 1.000.000 Serbs, 80.000 Gypsies and 30.000 Jews. The Serbs also accepted to join part of their territory to Croatia in order to form together one of the republics of the Yugoslav federation, under the name of People’s Republic of Croatia. The first Congress in relation to this event took place in Zagreb on September 29th and 30th 1945. It was agreed that the federative republic of Croatia become the historical and national territory of the Serbs and the Croats, under only one condition that the borders of the new Croatia would not be a parting line between the Serbs in Croatia and the Serbs living in the other federative republics. Based on this decision taken on September 29th and 30th 1945, was constituted the Republic of Croatia: “We must protect the unity of the Serbian people in the political and cultural life as a guaranty for preservation and progress. The borders within the federative union do not separate nor break the unity of the Serbian population, but are the link between all the Serbs in Yugoslavia.”
Such a decision should be respected. No change should be made by the Constitution or by law, as long as is maintained the two-nation State as it was created. The Government of the Republic of Serbian Krayina hopes that the diplomatic-consular representatives will inform their respective governments on the historical precedent existing when the European countries gave their support to the Croats to disregard the rights of the Serbs and expelled them from their historical and national territory.
The government of the Serbian Krayina, on this occasion, expresses its high consideration to the diplomatic-consular representatives.
